A Perfect
Day
Reviews
Spring had
been a long time coming. The cold months of winter smothered any
spring-like enthusiasm that I had,
until today! A
clear blue sky and a warm breeze heralded the new season in full
force. |

‘How in God’s name am I
supposed to use that, you daft hap’eth’, it is a hand machine and as
you may be aware, I have only got one arm’, she said waving it at

Nelly
and her Daff's. A STORY TO WARM THE HEART.
Reviews
With Easter just around the
corner the year was spinning out of control and Christmas was
a distant blur. The bright, tough little daffodils were out and
braving the high winds that were bashing England. Plants that had
lain dormant in the cold soil and silently monitored the passing of
winter, were awakening. When the time was right they would rush
forward with a surge of energy. Like a young teenager with a rash of
hormones. |

“It will be another
stormy day out at sea,” Bella announced in a statement-like
fashion as I was leaning over her Singer 514. She was gazing
out towards the coast with a lost look on her face. “Wouldn’t
like to be a sailor today,” she added under her breath,
shaking her head slightly, “No not today.” |

Doll's Story

Reviews
Doll's true story is a
long piece stretching from 1926 to 1949. It is simply superb.
“Doll, Doll, Dorothy! Wake up it’s time to go,”
whispered her mum gently shaking her through the bed sheets. “We are
going where the skylarks sing and the air smells of the sea, where
dreams are made. |

I took
my tea and went to explore. I opened the front door and a warm
wind greeted me like an old friend. I spent the next half an
hour in my jim-jams slowly walking around the garden.
I was totally entranced by
Mother Nature and was examining the outstretched petals of a
yellow celandine when a voice flew over the gate. “See you
haven’t lost your Christmas belly yet Alex!”
Instinctively I pulled in my
stomach but that loosened my pyjama bottoms. I stopped,
realising it would be far better to show my postman a fat
belly than the family jewels! |
